UPFA MP and Mahajana Eksath Peramuna leader Dinesh Gunawardena claimed victory over the rival 'UNP coconut team' which had also planned to dash coconuts at Seenigama Devalaya yesterday.

"UNP coconut team, which was supposed to dash against JntOp, retreated retired & withdrew without a trace as soon as we started dashing!" Gunawardena said on Twitter yesterday.

The Joint Opposition organized the coconut dashing ritual at Seenigama to appeal to the deities against the Financial Crimes Investigation Division. The rival group was to conduct their ritual in support of the FCID.

Several 'Joint Opposition' MPs took part in the ritual along with a large number of their supporters.
