UPFA MP and Mahajana Eksath Peramuna leader Dinesh Gunawardena was pick-pocketed at Seenigama while he was taking part in the coconut breaking ritual against the police Financial Crimes Investigations Division organized by the 'Joint Opposition'.

Several other people in the gathering were also pick-pocketed at the event.

Following public announcement of the incident, the wallets of Gunawardena and two other individuals were found inside a nearby restaurant. The money had been taken from the wallets and the NICs and other belongings were found safe.

The 'Joint Opposition' held a coconut breaking ritual today at the Seenigama Devalaya to appeal to the deities against the conduct of FCID.
