The concept of national government was introduced to Sri Lanka by the Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, said the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala De Silva.
He made this observation in a meeting at Ahangama.
“The concept of national government was introduced by a great person, before the President Maithripala Sirisena did it. That was Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. He was the one who suggested that UNP and UPFA should be united, and formed a national government with 17 United National Party members, including Karu Jayasuriya. Most of the members our party do not remember it now”, De Silva said.
