The fishermen's strike in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry demanding return of their detained boats by Sri Lanka entered third day today.

More than 200,000 fishermen are on strike in six districts including Nagapattinam, Ramanathapuram and Karaikkal.

Sri Lanka released 102 fishermen from Tamil Nadu as goodwill gesture last week but continues to detain their fishing boats.

Fishermen association said that they will be blockading Karaikal port with their fishing boats on Friday.

The fishermen have urged the Central Government to intervene and find a lasting solution to the problem.
