The Colombo Crimes Division has been assigned to investigate the alleged kidney racket involving six Sri Lankan doctors, Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said.
Director General of Health Services Dr. Palitha Mahipala earlier requested the IGP to conduct an investigation into the alleged incident.
Six Sri Lankan doctors working in four private hospitals in Colombo were involved in the kidney racket, it was recently claimed by Indian media.
However, the GMOA said yesterday that the attempt by the Indian media could be a deliberate attempt to discredit Sri Lankan medical professionals in the backdrop of their opposition to the proposed CEPA with India.
