The death toll from the land slide in Vedamulla, Kothmale has risen to 5.

Three others have been injured and two are still missing.

The incident occurred at a tea estate yesterday. Torrential rains are hindering relief work in the area.

Heavy rains were reported from many parts in the island including the Central Highlands last night.
