Paddy farmers in Polonnaruwa protested today against the Paddy Marketing Board, opposing its decision to stop purchasing paddy harvest in the area.

Several main roads, including Colombo – Batticaloa Road and Polonnaruwa – Mahiyanganaya road were blocked by the protesters, our reporter said.

Accordingly, the farmers had brought paddy harvest that could not be sold to the road. Heavy traffic was reported in the area due to the protest.

Polonnaruwa is the native district of President Maithripala Sirisena.
