The Parliament today approved three nominees to represent to the civil society in the Constitutional Council.

Accordingly, Dr. A. T. Ariyaratne, Dr. Radhika Coomaraswamy and President's Council Shibly Aziz will represent the civil society in the Constitutional Council.

The Prime Minister proposed their names to the Parliament a short while ago.

The Constitutional Council was established under the 19th Amendment and will overlook the appointment of independent commissions in the coming weeks.
