The Supreme Court today granted leave to proceed with the Fundamental Rights petition filed by State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe against a police officer over an alleged incident which took place in Athurugiya during the recent general election campaign.
Senasinghe recently filed a fundamental rights petition in court seeking an order directing the police to take disciplinary action against a sergeant who allegedly blocked a truck that was being used in campaign.
The Supreme Court also issued an order staying the operation of magisterial inquiry against Senasinghe until the Attorney General inquired into the matter.
