A SriLankan Airlines flight from London with 247 passengers on board was diverted to Mattala International Airport due to inclement weather in Colombo.

The flight landed at Mattala at 1.55pm.

The passengers were asked to stay inside the airplane since the officials claimed that Mattala airport does not have the facilities to care for their needs, our reporter said.

However, some employees at the airport have refuted this claim, adding that Mattala can easily host such a small number of passengers.
