IGP N.K. Illangakoon ordered the CID to take over the investigations into the recent murder of a 5-year-old girl in Kotadeniyawa with immediate effect.

The girl's body was found on Sunday, a day after she was reported missing. 

Kotadeniyawa Police had launched an investigation into the murder.

Even though some physical evidence had been discovered, the investigations were reported to be moving slowly.
