Minister of Justice and Buddha Sasana Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe revealed that a new Chairman and Commissioners will be appointed for the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption once the Constitutional Council is set up.
Speaking at the Buddha Sasana Ministry after assuming duties, Rajapakshe said that three members of the Constitutional Council have already been selected. They are the Speaker, who is also the Chairman, the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader.
Four other MPs will soon be appointed as representatives of the government, main opposition party, other parties and the President, he pointed out.
The three civil society members to be appointed will be selected by Parliament on September 22 or later, he also said.
Once the council is set up, officials of the independent commissions will be appointed, Rajapakshe said. There will be some changes in some commissions, he further said, and pointed out that changes will definitely occur in the Bribery Commission.
