A large number of letters including ordinary mail, air mail, post cards and election propaganda material intended to be posted during the election campaigning period were recovered from an abandoned toilet pit in the Moratuwa post office this morning.

Post Master General Rohana Abeyratne and several senior officials of the Postal Department and the police visited the scene on information received and recovered the stock of letters from the toilet pit.

Moratuwa UNP Chief Organiser Deepal Rodrigo had made a complaint to the Moratuwa police in this regard, reportedly acting on information received by UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake.
