BBS General Secretary Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera has been asked to appear before the Slave Island Police on April 12 in connection with the dispute which occurred at a press conference at Hotel Nippon.
A group of BBS monks led by Gnanasara Thera stormed the venue of the press conference and ordered one of the monks who was present at the press conference to apologize from the public for his involvement in what they termed as anti-Buddhist activities.
Watareka Vijitha Thera, the monk who was forced to apologize, had said he was threatened by Gnanasara Thera. He said he smelt 'alcohol' during the brawl with BBS monks.
The press conference was organized by a newly formed organization named 'Jathika Bala Sena' to raise awareness about issues faced by the Muslims in Sri Lanka.
