IMF Programme's Third Review Discussions Successfully Concluded

The discussions related to the third review of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme were successfully concluded today (22), the President's Media Division (PMD) announced.

The meeting, held at the Presidential Secretariat, was attended by a delegation representing the IMF, led by Senior Mission Chief Peter Breuer. The Sri Lankan government was represented by a delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Economic Development Anil Jayantha Fernando.

The discussions focused on reviewing the progress of Sri Lanka’s ongoing economic reform programme, which is supported by the IMF. Key topics included fiscal consolidation, structural reforms, and measures to strengthen the country’s economic recovery.

Both parties expressed optimism about the outcomes of the discussions, with the IMF delegation commending Sri Lanka’s efforts in meeting programme benchmarks.
