The Ministry of National Languages and Social Integration has organized a 'convention of national unity' with the participation of over 1500 representatives from numerous fields of interests and ethnic and religious backgrounds, representing a cross section of the Sri Lankan society.
The event will be held at the BMICH under the auspices of President Mahinda Rajapaksa who will be giving the keynote address at the convention.
The objective of this conference is to provide a forum to build a positive and productive dialogue under the national policy framework for social integration launched by the ministry in 2012, to protect the rights and responsibilities of individuals and the duties of the state to enhance social justice and inclusion.
This will also pave the way for ethnic and religious harmony in Sri Lanka. The event has been organized under the guidance of Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Minister of National Languages and Social Integration.
