Woman In Kahawatta Died Of Blunt Force Trauma To Head: Police

The woman who was murdered in Kotakethana area in Kahawaththa recently, died of a blunt force trauma to the head, the post mortem report revealed.

The post mortem has also found that she had 6 cut injuries on her body, police media spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara told media.

He further stated that according to the autopsy report, her killer had hit her head with a heavy weapon causing severe damage to the skull.

Several body parts have been sent to for further testing to determine whether the woman was sexually assaulted, spokesperson said.

The 39-year-old had gone missing on Sunday(05) morning and her body was found 36 hours later in a stream nearby her house, local media reported.

Moreover ASP Gunasekara said that the police have launched an investigation on the blood stains found inside her house, especially a bloody print on a sock.

Investigations are mainly focused on whether the killer had worn socks, he added.

Kahawaththa has drawn attention of police and media few years back due to several mysterious murders of women in the area. As many as 15 women have been found murdered in 2011 and 2012 in the area.
