President Maithripala Sirisena praised the role played by social media activists in his election victory at the presidential election on January 8.
Taking part in a TV interview moderated by Upul Shantha Sannasgala, the president said that he was aware of the fact that the younger generation was active on the internet during the election campaign unlike never before.
He said that the young generation never used technology to this extent to affect a change in the government at anytime or in any election.
Sirisena also mentioned that the younger generation committed itself because it was in need of change and added that he can never forget the promised he made to them in the election. The president said that he has an obligation to carry out what he had promised.
