JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that the interim budget of the new government lacks short term or long term economic strategies.
Speaking to local media he has said that the former government gave concessions with an election around the corner but the people understood it and rejected the government. Adding that the concessions given by the present government were important to make people’s lives better, the budget should also have had clear economic strategies.
Dissanayake added that this was a budget which was presented with the principle aim of reducing the cost of living and helping the people.
However, since it has not clearly stated any economic strategies, it does not give any indication of the long term economic policy of the government, he added.
