Yoshitha's Navy Ranks And Alleged Political Engagement Under Probe

A committee has been appointed by Navy Commander Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera to investigate the legitimacy of Yoshitha Rajapaksa’s ranks as a Navy Officer.

 

Speaking to Asian Mirror, Navy Media Spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya said that the committee was formed following the complaints lodged by Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP).

 

“The committee consists of several Senior Officers, they have already launched an investigation into the matter”, he said said.

 

Warnakulasuriya said that the committee in their investigation, will look into three main areas, including ranks and titles received by Yoshitha Rajapaksa from the Navy, his foreign training’, and alleged engagement in political activities while serving in the military.

 

JVP earlier lodged a complaint with the Bribery Commission claiming that the titles and ranks of the former President’s son were gained through influence and that Yoshitha Rajapaksa engaged in ‘active politics’ while being an Officer of the Sri Lanka Navy.

 

it was  rumored that after his father’s defeat in the Presidential Election, Yoshitha Rajapaksa had handed over his resignation to the Navy Commander, which the hatter had refused to accept.
