Chief Justice Mohan Peiris yesterday lodged a complaint with the Kurunduwatta Police station against Central Provincial Council Member Azath Salley saying the latter posed a threat to his security.
In his complaint the Chief Justice has reportedly said that the Provincial Councilor acted in a way which was threatening to his personal security.
Peiris told the police that a group which was led by Salley invaded his official residence and threatened him to step down from his position. He added that the ‘invaders’ warned that there would be consequences if the Chief Justice did not give in to their demands.
However, speaking to media regarding the matter, Police Media Spokesman ASP Ajitha Rohana said that the police cannot comment on the matter until the preliminary investigations are over.
Azath Salley, who was a strong critic of the former regime, on several occasions insisted that Chief Justice Mohan Peiris should step down immediately from his position over his alleged involvement in an anti-government plot on the Election Night.
