UPFA Hambantota District Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa pleaded not to take revenge from his mother for ‘crimes she has not committed’.

“If someone wants to take revenge from my family take revenge from me and my father. Leave my mother out of all this," Rajapaksa said.

Speaking to media regarding the charges filed against former first lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa by the wife of former DIG Vaas Gunawardene, Namal Rajapaksa said that he and his father were the only members of his family who were involved in politics from his family.

Yesterday (27), the wife of former DIG Vass Gunawardena lodged a complaint against Shiranthi Rajapaksa with the Bribery Commission, claiming that the former First Lady was involved in a gold scandal.

“My mother was never involved in such scandals; all the charges filed against her are false and baseless”, Rajapaksa added.
