Highly placed UPFA sources told Asian Mirror that by dissolving the Uva Proivincial Council and seeking a fresh mandate, the government will be able to 'reverse' the negative trend which was visible at Western and Southern Provincial Council election. As a whole, the overall votes percentage of the government decreased by nearly 8 % at the recently held PC election.
According to government sources present Chief Minister Shasheendra Rajapaksa will be the Chief Minister candidate of the UPFA camp at the forthcoming election too.
At the weekly cabinet meeting, which is expected to take place today at Temple Trees, UPFA seniors will further discuss the possibility of seeking a fresh mandate from Uva.
