A senior officer of the Sri Lanka Army told 'Asian Mirror' that some of the Tamil organizations which have now been banned in Sri Lanka in a new gazette notice issued on Tuesday, have worked towards revival of the LTTE in the Sri Lankan soil.
He added that 'Gopi', the resident of Kilinochchi who is wanted for terrorism charges, has had close links with some of those organizations.
"We have credible information that he has links to Tamil Organizations in the UK, Switzerland and Canada. He spent three tears in Europe and we are sure he worked under the instructions of Pro-LTTE Tamil organizations,' he said.
Tamil Rehabilitation Organisation, Tamil Coordinating Committee, British Tamil Forum, World Tamil Movement, Canadian Tamil Congress, Australian Tamil Congress, Global Tamil Forum, National Council of Canadian Tamils, Tamil National Council, Tamil Youth Organisation, World Tamil Coordinating Committee, Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam, Tamil Eelam People’s Assembly, World Tamil Relief Fund and the Headquarters Group have been banned in Sri Lanka under a special gazette notice issued on Tuesday.
These organizations are not openly functioning in Sri Lanka.
The Ministry of Defence has also named Perinbanayagam Sivaparan alias Nediyavan, Reverend Father S.J Emmanuel, Visuvanathan Ruthirakumaran and Sekarampillai Vinayakamoorthy as people who are 'banned' in Sri Lanka.
