Western Province Minister Nimal Lanza has stated that he has gone to courts against UNP Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake over certain comments the latter had made.
Lanza added that Ramanayake has defamed his character and political life by these comments, and he was demanding compensation of 1 billion Rupees. He made this announcement at a press conference at Negombo Mayor’s Office yesterday.
“The court case will be taken into consideration on December 15 and the people of Negombo will wait eagerly to greet Ramanayake,” Lanza said. “As an actor he is used to fake fights and lying. But he should not lie in real life” the Provincial Minister added further.
“If his accusations are indeed true, he can prove it in open court,” Lanza added.
He also said that Ramanayake, who once served as the Leader of Opposition in Sabaragamuwa Province has forgotten the people of the province. He challenged Ramanayake to contest an election in Ratnapura District and win at least one preferential vote than he did in the earlier election. If Ramanayake can do it, he will resign from politics forever, Lanza said.
