Official Residence of Sanath Nishantha Expected to Be Returned by Tomorrow

The State residence allocated to the late State Minister Sanath Nishantha is expected to be returned by tomorrow, according to his wife, the Ministry of Public Administration said.

Nishantha passed away on 25 January 2024, following an accident on the Colombo-Katunayake Expressway.

After President Anura Kumara Dissanayake was elected on 21 September, the interim government instructed the return of official residences held by former ministers, state ministers, and MPs to the State.

It has been reported that residences used by Sanath Nishantha, Mohan De Silva, and the late R. Sampanthan are to be returned. The Ministry confirmed that the official residence of Mohan De Silva is expected to be handed over today. Relatives of the late R. Sampanthan previously announced that his residence will also be returned this month.
