Special Meeting Held to Review High-Profile Police Investigations

A special meeting at Police Headquarters was convened to assess the progress of high-profile investigations into crimes, fraud, and other controversial cases in Sri Lanka. Chaired by Ravi Seneviratne, the newly appointed Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, the meeting focused on both ongoing and stalled inquiries.

Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya, along with senior police officials and members of the Criminal Investigation Department, participated in the discussions. Police spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa reported that the agenda included addressing investigations that had been temporarily halted or delayed.

Ravi Seneviratne raised concerns about potential political interference in these investigations and stressed the importance of understanding the reasons behind any delays. The meeting also identified which cases required revival and examined those impacted by external factors.

A comprehensive report will be prepared to ensure the effective continuation of these key investigations.
