Nadeen Basik, son of notorious drug trafficker Shiran Basik, was arrested today at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake. The arrest, conducted by the Police Special Task Force (STF), followed Nadeen's return from Dubai on an Emirates flight.

Nadeen Basik is a key suspect in a hit-and-run incident that injured an STF officer during a raid in Wellawatta on February 16, 2024. He had previously fled the country when a travel ban was briefly lifted.

Following his arrest, Nadeen Basik has been transferred to Wellawatte Police for further legal proceedings. His father, Shiran Basik, remains at large in Dubai and is known as a leading figure in Sri Lanka's drug trade.
