The Sri Dalada Esala Perahera at the Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic began this morning with the 'Kap Situweema' ceremony. Held at 4:10 a.m. on August 5, the ritual was performed at the ‘Natha’, ‘Vishnu’, ‘Kataragama’, and ‘Paththini’ dewalayas.
The first Kumbal Perahera is scheduled to parade the streets on August 10, following a five-day internal procession of the 'Satara Maha Dewalayas', according to Pradeep Nilanga Dela, Diyawadana Nilame of Kandy.
