Sri Lanka Tourism Wins "Best Tourism Board" at Global Tourism Awards 2024

Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) has been honored with the “Best International Tourism Board” accolade at the Global Tourism Awards 2024, held on August 2 in New Delhi, India. Organized annually by Travel World Online (TWO), the Global Tourism Awards celebrate organizations making significant contributions to the tourism industry.

This year’s event featured various categories with a large number of applicants from around the world, selected by the jury headed by Mr. Nakul Anand, former Executive Director of ITC. The award was presented to Mr. Chalaka Gajabahu, Chairman of SLTPB, with Harin Fernando, Minister of Tourism, Lands, Sports, and Youth Affairs, attending as the Guest of Honour.

Mr. Nalin Perera, Managing Director of SLTPB, expressed gratitude to the jury for recognizing the bureau's dedication to promoting Sri Lanka as a premier tourism destination. He also acknowledged the contributions of various media publications and travel influencers in boosting Sri Lanka's international profile.

Sri Lanka has seen a significant increase in tourism, with 1,198,059 tourists visiting up to July 31, 2024, marking a 56% rise over 2023. The SLTPB is confident of reaching its target of 2.3 million tourists this year.
