IndiGo to Launch Daily Flights Between Chennai and Jaffna

Indian low-cost airline IndiGo has announced Jaffna in Sri Lanka as its newest international destination. Starting September 1, 2024, the airline will operate non-stop daily flights between Chennai and Jaffna. This marks Jaffna as the second Sri Lankan destination for IndiGo after Colombo, expanding its international route network to 34 destinations and its overall network to 122.

This strategic move aims to strengthen cultural and trade ties between India and Sri Lanka. IndiGo said that this new route will enhance accessibility and cater to the growing travel demand between the two countries. Bookings for the new flights are open from August 1, 2024.

IndiGo's Head of Global Sales, Vinay Malhotra, expressed enthusiasm for the new route, highlighting its potential to boost trade and tourism. The airline already operates 30 weekly flights from India to Colombo, and the new 75-minute flight to Jaffna will further improve connectivity.
