Health and Industry Minister Ramesh Pathirana has said an anticipated 90% increase in local medicine production by next year. This growth builds on initiatives launched by Professor Senaka Bibile, aimed at strengthening the country's industrial sector.
According to Minister Pathirana, these efforts have significantly advanced Sri Lanka's pharmaceutical industry. Currently, the Sri Lanka Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association produces over 200 different types of pharmaceuticals and holds a 20% share of the local market. Additionally, local manufacturers supply approximately 25% of the essential drugs used in government hospitals and clinics.
