Kathiravelu Sanmugam Kuhadasan was sworn in as a Member of Parliament in the presence of the speaker.
Kuhadasan fills the seat left vacant following the death of R. Sampanthan. In the previous general election, Kuhadasan garnered 16,770 votes representing the Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK).
