The Colombo Magistrate’s Court was informed today that Viranjith Thambugala, Chairman of Aura Lanka, and his family have received death threats. Thambugala is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for alleged financial fraud.

During the court session presided over by Colombo Additional Magistrate Pavitra Pathiraja, the defense attorneys highlighted the threats received following Thambugala's statement to investigators. They requested the court to issue a protective order for Thambugala and his family.

After reviewing the information presented, Magistrate Pathiraja announced that a decision regarding the protective order will be issued on August 10. Thambugala remains in custody pending further developments in the investigation.
