Health Unions Declare National Protest Day

The All Ceylon Health Trade Union Federation announced that Wednesday, July 3rd, would be a national protest day. Chairman Samantha Koralearachchi said that protests would be held at all hospitals nationwide at noon on this day.

The protests are based on six key demands: a five-day work week for hospital staff, a stringent process for promotions and transfers, and a transport allowance.

Koralearachchi mentioned that repeated requests for discussions with Minister of Health Dr. Ramesh Pathirana over the past month have gone unanswered. He urged authorities to direct attention to the issues faced by hospital staff.
