Tragedy struck a fishing crew of six off the coast of Tangalle when three fishermen died and three others were left in serious condition after drinking liquid from a floating bottle they mistook for liquor.

The vessel is now being towed back to land by another fishing boat, according to a spokesperson from the Sri Lanka Navy.
Authorities are investigating the contents of the bottle and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
