Former Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, currently on a four-day visit to China, met with China's Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sun Weidong, in Beijing. Vice Minister Sun warmly recalled the historic 2014 visit of President Xi Jinping to Sri Lanka during Rajapaksa's presidency, highlighting Rajapaksa's longstanding friendship with China.

Rajapaksa's visit, at the special invitation of the Chinese government, underscores the deepening  ties between Sri Lanka and China. The delegation accompanying Rajapaksa includes four other members, reflecting the importance of this diplomatic engagement.
