Police Use Tear Gas and Water Cannons to Disperse Teachers' and Principals' Protest

Police fired tear gas and used water cannons to disperse a protest by teachers and principals in Colombo over salary anomalies.
The demonstrators began their protest from Fort Railway Station and headed towards Lotus Road. The protest was part of a larger islandwide trade union action, where over 10,000 schools were closed as teachers and principals reported sick to highlight their demands.
