The Sri Lanka Army has announced the appointment of Major General Rohitha Aluwihare as the new Chief of Staff, effective from today.

Major General Aluwihare, a distinguished officer from the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, has had a notable military career since his enlistment in 1988. He most recently served as the General Officer Commanding the 11 Infantry Division of the Security Forces Headquarters in the Central region.

Throughout his career, Major General Aluwihare has held several key operational, administrative, and staff positions across the country. His experience and leadership have been pivotal in various military operations and administrative reforms within the Sri Lanka Army.
