Bangladesh Seeks Sri Lankan Investment in Tourism Sector

 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh has extended an invitation to Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, seeking Sri Lankan investment in Bangladesh's tourism sector. This appeal was made during a courtesy meeting between the two leaders in New Delhi on Monday.

Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud reported that the discussions focused on leveraging Sri Lanka's advanced tourism industry to boost Bangladesh's tourism sector. The leaders also explored opportunities for mutual cooperation in agriculture and maritime sectors.

Dr. Mahmud said that while the meeting was primarily a courtesy call, it covered a wide range of bilateral issues. President Wickremesinghe expressed gratitude for Bangladesh's financial assistance during Sri Lanka's economic challenges and conveyed his interest in visiting Bangladesh, acknowledging the impending elections in Sri Lanka.
