Senior Advisor to the President on National Security and Chief of Presidential Staff, Mr. Sagala Ratnayaka, announced plans to establish a new city for residents along the Kelani River bank. This city will feature comprehensive facilities, including hospitals, schools, and residential complexes.
This plan came out during an observation tour of the Kolonnawa area, which has been impacted by adverse weather conditions. The initiative will involve consultations with residents and stakeholders, including the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) and the Sri Lanka Transport Board Depot.
The goal is to develop a plan that achieves broad consensus and to implement the project within the next decade. The tour included Member of Parliament Premanath C. Dolawatta, Director General of the Trade Union Saman Ratnapriya, and other political representatives and officials.
