A 17-year-old boy has drowned in flood waters in the Atavaramulla area of Baddegama. The mishap unfolded as the teenager, alongside friends, attempted to stay afloat using a tube amidst flood waters spawned by the overflowing Ging River.

Unfortunately, the tube overturned, leading to the teenager being swept away by the current. Prompt response from police officers, lifeguards, and navy personnel led to the boy being brought ashore.
However, despite efforts, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Baddegama Hospital.

The deceased teenager hailed from Ganegama West, Baddegama, as confirmed by authorities. Baddegama Police have initiated further investigations into the incident.
