Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery Resumes Operations Today

The Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery, operated by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO), is set to resume operations today, June 5. The refinery had ceased operations on May 30 due to a malfunction in the Water Demineralization Plant, a critical component for the refinery's power generation.

Following successful repairs on the boiler water system, efforts to restore the power system are in progress. The refinery's crude unit will begin operations today, with other processing units to follow shortly.

CEYPETCO has assured the public that there is no cause for concern regarding fuel availability, as adequate fuel stocks are maintained in storage tanks.
