Government Freezes Assets Linked to Terrorist Activity

 

The government has frozen the assets of 15 organizations and 210 individuals linked to terrorist and extremist activities.
This move was announced in a gazette notification published on Monday, June 3. The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Major General (Retired) Kamal Gunaratne, issued the gazette, which lists the designated persons, groups, and entities under regulation 4(7) of the United Nations Regulations No. 1 of 2012.
The action aims to curb the financial networks supporting terrorism and extremism in the country.
