Temporary Decrease in Heavy Rain

The Department of Meteorology has announced a temporary decrease in the heavy rains over the Southwestern part of the island today.

Despite this, several spells of showers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, and North-Western provinces. Showers or thundershowers may occur in other areas of the island during the evening or night, including sea areas off the coasts from Kankasanthurai to Hambantota via Puttalam, Colombo, and Galle.

Winds will be south-westerly, ranging from 25 to 35 kmph, particularly affecting the coastal areas from Mullaitivu to Puttalam via Kankasanthurai and Mannar, as well as from Hambantota to Pottuvil. The public is advised to take precautions to minimize damage from  strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
