Sri Lankan Student In Perth Critically Injured in Unprovoked Attack

 

A Sri Lankan international student in Perth, Australia, is in critical condition following an unprovoked attack. Geeth Madushanka, 28, was coward punched by a stranger at a BP petrol station in Langford around 10 p.m. on May 25, according to the Daily Mail.

The alleged assailant, 30-year-old Cyril Benedict Garlett, is accused of pushing and punching Madushanka, causing him to fall and hit his head. Police report that Garlett had assaulted two other men earlier the same day.

Madushanka, who has been studying in Perth since February, is currently in the ICU at Royal Perth Hospital. His family and friends are raising funds for his medical treatment through GoFundMe, having collected $9,000 so far.

Garlett faces multiple charges, including grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm, and criminal damage or destruction of property.
