Sri Lanka is grappling with severe flooding across 13 districts, resulting in the deaths of 17 individuals and impacting nearly 160,000 people. Heavy rainfall has caused widespread damage and displacement, with the Disaster Management Center (DMC) spearheading rescue operations.

Pradeep Kodippili, the DMC's director, confirmed that boats have been deployed to rescue those stranded in hard-hit areas like Gampaha. He urged residents to promptly contact the emergency hotline, 117, for assistance.

In addition to the fatalities, 13 people have been injured, and one person remains missing in Kalutara. The DMC continues to monitor the situation and coordinate relief efforts as the affected communities brace for further challenges.
