An Assistant Customs Officer was arrested in Colombo Fort for possession of a substantial quantity of illegal cigarettes. According to Sri Lanka Police, the suspect was caught transporting 7,000 cigarettes in a van.

Authorities also confiscated Rs. 590,000, which is suspected to be proceeds from the sale of the illicit goods. The individual in custody is identified as a 57-year-old resident of Angoda, Gothatuwa.
