Opposition MPs Depart for Thailand and Russia to Help Rescue Sri Lankans

Three opposition MPs have departed on a diplomatic mission to Thailand and Russia to assist Sri Lankans trapped in cybercrime camps in Myanmar and war veterans stranded in the Ukraine conflict 

The delegation, comprising MPs Wasantha Yapa Bandara, J. C. Alawathuwala, and Sujith Sanjaya Perera, left for Bangkok early this morning on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-402. Their mission includes engaging with diplomats and officials to facilitate the rescue and repatriation of the affected Sri Lankans.

During their five-day visits to Myanmar and Russia, the MPs will present letters from the Mahanayaka Theros and the Opposition Leader to the Sangha Nayaka Theros of Thailand and Myanmar, as well as to Russian diplomatic officials.
