Artificial Limbs for Sri Lankans With Indian Support

 

The High Commission of India in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence, has launched an Artificial Limb Camp aimed at assisting 1000 Sri Lankans, including civilians and armed forces personnel, in three phases.

Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha emphasized the enduring partnership between the two nations, showcasing projects worth over USD 5 Billion across various sectors.

The program, initiated by the Sri Lanka Army in cooperation with the High Commission of India, commenced on May 3, 2024, with 8 Indian experts leading the production of artificial limbs at Ranaviru Sevana, Ragama.

Scheduled for completion on May 23, 2024, the workshop aims to provide artificial limbs to 375 Army, 75 Air Force, Navy, and Police personnel, along with 200 civilians.

During a symbolic ceremony, four deserving members of the Army received artificial limbs, with the event graced by State Minister of Defence Premitha Bandara Tennakoon and other dignitaries.
